before i left the vacancy in his room,

i had to ask him the one question

thats been on the tip of my tongue

since the day our souls crossed,

"do you see me in your future?"

and right before he answered,

we were greeted by a prolonged silence

that overstayed it's welcome.

when the words

         "i don't know"

             slipped through his dry lips,

i knew that nothing else that

came out of his mouth would matter

because i found all of my answers

in the absence of sound between

                         my curiosity

                        and his uncertainty.
